ACOUSTISCAN:
Continuous Acoustic Monitoring for Offshore Wind

Offshore wind operators face a difficult maintenance reality: critical electrical assets must remain reliable in environments where weather, access and logistics can turn an unplanned intervention into a complex operation.

ACOUSTISCAN is a jointly developed solution from Seven Bel and Omexom for continuously monitoring partial-discharge-related acoustic activity in critical high- and medium-voltage infrastructure. It helps teams identify developing risk earlier, assess trends over time and plan the appropriate next step with greater confidence.

From acoustic evidence to maintenance decisions

Partial discharge can be an early indicator of insulation degradation in components such as switchgear, cable terminations, transformers and busbar bushings. But an isolated indication is rarely enough to guide a maintenance decision. Operators need to understand whether activity is changing, which locations deserve attention and when an intervention can be planned with the least operational impact.

ACOUSTISCAN supports this process through permanently installed, contact-free acoustic sensors, a Sensor Link and web-based analysis software. The system records relevant acoustic activity, makes changes visible through trends and health indicators, and supports the review of findings through alerts and reports.

Developed from operating experience

ACOUSTISCAN is a distinct continuous-monitoring solution that builds on Seven Bel’s established acoustic measurement and analysis technology, including the technology foundation of the Sound Scanner.

Together with Omexom Renewable Energies Offshore, Seven Bel further developed this capability for the operational requirements of offshore wind. Omexom contributed its experience in high-voltage infrastructure, installation, operation and maintenance. Seven Bel translated these requirements into dedicated hardware and software for continuous acoustic monitoring and analysis.

Designed for critical electrical infrastructure

In offshore environments, a developing issue may need to be assessed and addressed around narrow service windows. Continuous condition evidence can help teams prioritise investigations, prepare interventions and document the basis for maintenance decisions.

ACOUSTISCAN is deployed in practical offshore applications with currently 80+ installed sensors across switchgear systems, substations and turbine connection fields.

Meet us at Enlit Europe

Seven Bel will be at Enlit Europe in Vienna, 10–12 November 2026. Meet us to discuss your critical assets, current condition-monitoring approach and whether a focused ACOUSTISCAN pilot could support your maintenance strategy.
